The End! / Final! :(

NORTHEAST January-1 2017 has ended! :(

Yesterday was the end of Northeast January-1 trip! Although we're sad by this end, at the same time we're happy about the success of this trip! Exchange students loved it!
We would like to thank the students, families, host families, Officers, Chairmen and Rotary in general; as well as our coordinators, monitors, guides, drivers and suppliers!
Thanks for making this trip such a success!

Angra dos Reis!

January 27th - Rio de Janeiro

Hoje depois do encontro ás 9 horas nós fomos para um tour na favela com 3 guias que estavam falando sobre as favelas. Depois todo mundo foi almoçar, e tivemos tempo livre para ir a cidade ou comer alguma coisa. As duas e meia nós fomos para o ônibus que nos levou para o Cristo Redentor. A gente foi pegar o trem e depois todo mundo pode escolher subir de elevador ou escadas. No Cristo nós ficamos por uma hora por causa da chuva. Todo mundo tirou fotos com as bandeiras. Depois o jantar no buffet a gente foi a feira na praia para fazer compras. Depois da reunião todo mundo foi dormir.

Today after the meeting at 9 o'clock we went to a favela tour with 3 tour guides and we were in three groups. After the tour everyone took care of their own lunch, we had free time in the city to buy souvenirs or eat in a restaurant. At 2.30 we went to the bus who took us to the Christ. We had to take the train to go up and after everyone could choose if they want to go with na elevator or walk the stairs. We spent 1 hour there because the storm came and it was dangerous for us. Everyone had to leave the area of the Christ. After dinner we went to the beach where we could buy souvenirs for our families/friends. At 22 we came back to the hotel and after the reunion we had to come to our room and make our luggages to move the other day.

January 22nd - Porto Seguro / Vitória

A gente hoje acordou cedo (6:50 AM) para deixar as malas no ônibus e sair para Vitória, Espírito Santo. Tivemos o café de manhã no hotel e as 8:00 horas a gente saiu. Todos nós ficamos no ônibus assistindo os filmes de Harry Potter, brincando, conversando, rindo e dormindo.

Perto do meio dia, nós fomos almoçar em um posto de fast food. Dalí a gente voltou para o ônibus para seguir o nosso caminho. Assistimos ainda mais filmes de Harry Potter. A noite fomos jantar em um buffet muito gostoso 😋 e no final do dia chegamos ao hotel que fica perto da praia e onde passaremos a nossa noite.

We woke up early today (6:50 AM) to leave the bags on the bus and leave for Vitória, Espírito Santo. We had breakfast in the hotel and at 8:00 we went out. We all stayed on the bus watching the Harry Potter movies, joking, talking, laughing, and sleeping.

Around noon, we went to lunch at a fast food stand. From there we went back to the bus to get on our way. We watched even more Harry Potter movies. In the evening we went to dinner at a very tasty buffet 😋 and at the end of the day we arrived at the hotel which is near the beach and where we will spend our night.

January 21st - Porto Seguro

January 21st

After breakfast, we went to the beach in Porto Seguro. At the beach we had free time to go into the water, have lunch, learn how to dance and get henna tattoos.

When we returned to hotel, all of us went to the swimming pool and were playing with our pool balls.

In the afternoon, we met up with our tour guide and went to visit some of the cultural part of Porto Seguro. On the tour we learned a lot about the city, played in the trees, took some group pictures and had time to buy some souvenirs.

After we finished our tour, we went back to hotel. This time we had almost 3 hours of free time before dinner. During this time most of the boys went to play football and the girls stayed by the pool to talk.

For dinner, we went to the same restaurant where we had gone the night before. Tonight we got to eat a buffet there again and came to the conclusion that they actually need to put more mangos out cuz it not enough for us.

During our nightly meeting we decided that the chupeta would go to Rebecca tomorrow.

21 de Janeiro

Depois do café da manhã, fomos à praia em Porto Seguro. Na praia, tivemos tempo livre para entrar na água, almoçar, aprender a dançar e fazer tatuagens de henna.

Quando voltamos para o hotel, todos nós fomos para a piscina e brincamos de bola.

À tarde, nos encontramos com nosso guia de turismo e fomos visitar a parte cultural de Porto Seguro. Na turnê aprendemos muito sobre a cidade, subimos em árvores, tiramos algumas fotos de grupo e tivemos tempo para comprar algumas lembranças.

Depois de terminar o nosso tour, voltamos para o hotel. Desta vez tivemos quase 3 horas de tempo livre antes do jantar. Durante este tempo a maioria dos rapazes foi jogar futebol e as meninas ficaram na piscina para conversar.

Para o jantar fomos para o mesmo restaurante onde tínhamos ido a noite anterior. Esta noite comemos um buffet lá novamente e chegamos à conclusão de que eles realmente precisam colocar mais mangas porque não é suficiente para nós.

Durante a nossa reunião noturna decidimos que o chupeta iria para Rebecca amanhã.

January 20th - Salvador / Porto Seguro

Friday, January 20th

Today we took a 12-hour journey from the lovely capital of Bahia, Salvador to Porto Seguro, Bahia. During our bus trip we had the opportunity to continue to connect with all of the other exchange students and watch the Harry Potter series.

When we arrived at the Porto Seguro Eco Resort we had free time to watch the sunset over the beach and spend time at the pool.

For dinner our group went out to a local restaurant where we were served a buffet and after we had a 'party' including two other exchange students that live in Porto Seguro. To finish the night, we took a photo in our matching Terra Brasil Nordeste T-shirts and came to the conclusion that the chupeta would go to the DJ we had at our 'party'!

Sexta-feira, 20 de Janeiro

Hoje fizemos uma viagem de 12 horas da bela capital da Bahia, Salvador para Porto Seguro, na Bahia. Durante a nossa viagem de ônibus tivemos a oportunidade de continuar a se conectar com todos os outros estudantes de intercâmbio e assistir Harry Potter. Quando chegamos ao Porto Seguro Eco Resort, tivemos tempo livre para assistir o pôr do sol sobre a praia e passar o tempo na piscina. Para o jantar o nosso grupo saiu para um restaurante local onde fomos servidos um buffet e depois tivemos uma 'festa' incluindo dois outros estudantes de intercâmbio que vivem em Porto Seguro. Para terminar a noite, tiramos uma foto com nossas camisetas da Terra Brasil e chegamos à conclusão de que o chupeta iria para o DJ que tínhamos na nossa "festa"!

 

January 19th - Salvador

We arrived in the first capital of Brazil, Salvador. First we woke up and left the hotel at nine o'clock to greet our guide for the day, Daniela. We went by bus on a citytour. First we went to Nosso Senhor do Bonfim. We received bands that we could put on the rails at the Church. Afterwards we went to the Mercado Modelo where we were able to buy souvenirs and some of the inbounds braided their hair. Then we went to Pelourino to eat lunch. The food we had was Bahian like acarajé. Afterwards we went to the Igreja do São Francisco. We then had free time in Pelourinho and went back to the hotel for our talent show. It was really fun and we all enjoyed it.

Hoje nós chegamos a primeira capital do Brasil, Salvador. Primeiro a gente acordou e saiu as nove horas apra encontrar com nossa guia, Daniela. Nós fomos com o ônibus fazer um tour pela cidade. Primeiro nós visitamos a Igreja Nosso Senhor do Bonfim. Nós recebemos fitinhas do Bonfim que poderíamos colocar na grade da igreja. Depois nós fomos ao Mercado Modelo onde a gente pode comprar muitas coisas e alguns intercambistas trançaram seus cabelos. Depois nós almoçamos no Pelourinho. A comida foi baiana. Depois a gente foi para a igreja São Francisco. Nós tivemos tempo livre no Pelourinho e voltamos para o hotel. Aqui nós tivemos um show de talentos. Foi muito divertido e nós amamos.

January 18th - Praia do Forte

Hoje, Quarta-feira - 18 de Janeiro

A galera tomou café no hotel em Aracaju entre 7 e 7:40, todo mundo estava pronto as 8:00 e a gente saiu de Aracaju as 8:15 para a Praia do Forte na Bahia; ali a gente teve um tempo de 2 horas para fazer compras ou tomar banho, depois a gente se reuniu e as 14:15 entramos no Projeto Tamar; juntos com uma guia turística conhecemos 4 das 5 espécies de tartarugas no Brasil, arraias marinhas, alguns peixes e tubarões; depois tivemos um tempo para ficar a vontade no Projeto Tamar ou para fazer compras nas lojinhas.

As 16:20 a gente foi para o ônibus e fomos para Salvador; tivemos um tempo para fazer compras e depois fomos para um teatro onde tivemos uma apresentação de dança folclórica de Salvador.

Ao final do dia fomos para hotel e todo mundo foi para os quartos a meia noite.

 

Today, Wednesday January 18th

We took breakfast at the hotel in Aracaju between 7 and 7:40 am; everyone was ready at 8:00 and we left Aracaju at 8:15 going to Praia do Forte in Bahia; there we had a time of 2 hours for shopping or swiming at the sea, then we met and 2:15 for going to Project Tamar with a guide we discovered 4 of the 5 species of turtles that exist in Brazil, marine rays, some fishes and sharks; then we had a time to spend in Project Tamar or to shop in stores, then at 4:20 we were at the bus and went to Salvador; there we had time for shopping and then we went to a theater where there was presented a folkloric dance show of Salvador.

At the end of the day we went to hotel and everyone was at their rooms at midnight.

January 17th - Porto de Galinhas

We woke up in Recife and took breakfast at the beachside. After an hour long bus drive we arrived in Porto de Galinhas, where we spent a nice morning at the beach or shopping in the local shops for some souvenirs. For lunch we went to a nice restaurant called "Sabores da Terra" to the beach and than got on the road to Aracaju. After a long bus ride and the second and third "Lord of the Rings" film we arrived at 10 in Aracaju. To end the day off everybody ate at the hotel or ordered some pizza.

Acordamos em Recife e tomamos café em frente ao mar. Depois passamos uma hora no ônibus e chegamos à Porto de Galinhas, onde ficamos pela manhã; alguns ficaram na praia linda e outros fizeram compras nas lojinhas. Para o almoço fomos ao restaurante "Sabores da Terra" perto da praia e depois fomos com o ônibus para Aracaju. Depois de um longo caminho percorrido e dois filmes do "Senhor das Anéis" chegamos às 10 horas em Aracaju. Para fechar o dia todo mundo comeu no hotel ou pediu pizza.

January 16th - Recife & Olinda

Na segunda-feira 16 de Janeiro nós fomos para Recife e Olinda no Estado de Pernambuco para conhecer a região. Nosso primero passeio foi na "Cidade de Olinda" e conhecemos várias igrejas e edifícios feitos pelas colônias Portuguesa e Holandesa que habitavam a região. Também a gente assistiu as danças típicas do estado de Pernambuco e tiramos uma foto na praça que tem o nome de Recife.

January Monday 16th: we went to Recife and Olinda in Pernanbuco state to meet the área; our first trip was to Olinda city and we met churches and buildings made by the Portuguese and Dutch colonies. Also we watched typical dances of the state of Pernambuco and we took a photo in the square that has the name of Recife.

 

January 15th - Último dia em Natal / Last day in Natal

After sleeping a little longer than usual, we had breakfast and left at 9:00. We took the bus to the beach and divided into two groups. One stayed at the beach and the other went to the dunes on a buggy-ride. It was a great experience, as was the sandboarding we did afterwards. For dinner we ate pizza, and then we went back to yesterday's beach where we spent the night swimming and dancing at our beach party.

Depois de dormir um pouco mais do que normalmente fazemos, a gente tomou café da manhã e saiu às 9:00. Fomos de ônibus para a praia e nos dividimos em dois grupos. O primeiro ficou na praia, enquanto o outro foi para as dunas num passeio de buggy. Foi uma experiência muito legal, assim como o sandboard que fizemos depois. No jantar comemos pizza, e depois voltamos para a praia de ontem onde passamos a noite nadando e dançando na nossa festa de praia.
